What is Eurythmics?

Eurythmics, also known as eurhythmics, is a method of teaching music and movement developed by Swiss musician and educator Émile Jaques-Dalcroze in the early 20th century. This educational approach focuses on the integration of rhythm, movement, and music to enhance musical understanding and expression.

1.Rhythmic Movement:
Eurythmics emphasizes using body movements to represent and internalize musical rhythms. Students engage in physical activities, such as walking, running, skipping, and other gestures, to embody the rhythm and flow of music.

2.Improvisation:
A significant component of eurythmics is improvisation, allowing students to explore musical concepts creatively and spontaneously. This encourages flexibility, responsiveness, and a deeper personal connection to music.

3. Solfege and Ear Training:
Eurythmics often includes solfege (a system for teaching pitch and sight-singing) and ear training exercises. These activities help students develop their pitch recognition and musical memory.

4. Expressive Movement:
The method fosters expressive movement, where students interpret and convey the emotional and dynamic qualities of music through their bodies. This aspect helps in developing musicality and performance skills.

5. Integration with Other Arts:
Eurythmics can be integrated with dance, drama, and visual arts, promoting a holistic approach to arts education. This interdisciplinary method helps students appreciate the interconnectedness of different artistic forms.

Eurythmics is used in various educational settings, from early childhood music programs to professional music conservatories. It aims to develop a strong foundation in musical skills, enhance coordination and body awareness, and foster a lifelong love and appreciation for music.

7 Benefits of Our Eurythmics Lessons

We offerprivate lessons(from age 2) and small group lessons(from age 3). Additionally, we offer on-site group lessons for 5 or more students in kindergardens or community centers, etc. If you are interested, please contact us. About Small Group Lessons (from age 3 to 6)

体験学習イメージ

Our small group lessons consist of a maximum of three students, allowing us to give individual attention to each child. This enables us to tailor our teaching to the progress and needs of each child, helping them to advance more quickly and gain confidence. For children who have not yet started elementary school, developing a sense of rhythm and musicality through activities such as rhythm exercises and singing is more beneficial than piano-only lessons, as their fingers are still weak. Additionally, having peers in the class ensures that lessons remain engaging and enjoyable.

You are welcome to start lessons with siblings or friends, so please feel free to invite them. Solo applicants are also welcome, but you may need to wait until there are at least one additional participants. Please do not hesitate to contact our school for more information.
